Layout 1 and 2 for today

Up again early- working on so many nod pics!! I was hoping to scrap some new pics I ordered from walmart, but when I went to pick em up last night they told me they wouldn't be ready til later today- kinda defeats the point of 1 hr photo right? Grrr- ANYWAY!! Just trying to use as much of my studio calico kits as possible- I just started a subscription after ordering kits for a few months in a row- I love all the things you get in a kit, but I really need to buckle down and start using them!! Anyways onto the pics!! These are pics from 09 when a friend of mine hosted a survivor weekend- it was amazing- tons of challenges and soo fun!! We even make fake hidden immunity idols - so I wanted to make a few secrets to that layout!!a journaling card that pulls out and an entire layer of the layout that pulls out to reveal some more pics- I love how it looks!!

Layout 3 for the day!

Pinterest is sooo inspiring!! I found a sketch of this layout and LOVED IT!! - of course I changed it around a little bit- and of course I am trying to use as much of that studio calico kit!! The problem was every page I used on this layout I LOVED so I was having a hard time cutting into them- but I am really happy I did because I am really happy with the layout!

Another layout!

I'm on a roll today! I scrap lifted a layout from Lilith e (see the original on my Pinterest page under scrapbook) but only the very basic layout- oh and the Amy tangerine LOVE paper- haha- other than that I again used my old studio calico kit except for a very few pieces! It is about time I scrap these photos- this trip was from like 3 yrs ago- maybe more!!

Quick layout

So I'm up early and decided there's no better way to start the day than to scrapbook! I haven't gotten to in such a long time!! So I put together this quick layout using mostly an old studio calico kit- enjoy!!

Welcome baby card

Here is another welcome baby card- I chose to add the sentiment on the inside. I stamped the image onto patterned paper 3 times so I could cut out different parts to add dimension.

MORE SNOW!

We just had a bit more snow here in PA....a few inches....nothing my new snow blower can't handle!  :)  So of course...I wanted to do a spring layout....this is of a trip my sister and I took to Longwood Gardens last year....it's sooo beautiful there!

So I used some kraft cardstock spritzed with Studio Calico Mister Huey's in Pony, with some papers from DCWV Rustic stack, some Prima flowers and a few stickers from American Crafts as well as a beautiful green ribbon from American Crafts (that I got in a pack for $1- at TJ MAX...I can't resist ANY scrapbooking supply that is under $5...haha!)

Thanks for looking!  :)  STAY WARM OUT THERE!

XRAY TECH

So I found these neon green glittery thickers and thought...I wanna make a layout using some pics I had for a while from my job as an Xray tech in the operating room.  I took these pics to show my students what we wear (aren't the glasses AWESOME! LOL).  So this is just a fun layout using a lot of green...PS sorry my camera stopped recording in the middle of filming...again!  And I didn't add my journaling yet...but u get the idea...  :)

But you can see an awesome glitter splatter technique (which might just be my new fav thing) I got from swissgirlDesigns

I LOVE this little skeleton from a Halloween Cricut cartridge!  :)

So I know the song is a little crazy, but it was called Radiation, so it kinda fit the theme....LOL!!  Not really what I would typically listen to, but ya know....

ECO-FRIENDLY CRAFT TIPS

OK, anyone who knows me, knows I am really into being eco-friendly....so a lot of people ask me "How can you be eco-friendly and scrapbook at the same time?"  Scrapbooking doesn't mean you have to waste tons of paper and products to create 1 layout.  I have a huge scrap folder organized by color...I hardly throw anything away.  You might eventually find use for that little bit of paper somewhere!

So I decided to let you all in on a few easy things I do to try to cut back on the trash!  :)

1.  Have an old Cricut mat that isn't sticky anymore?  I have a Cricut mat that is only sticky enough to KINDA hold the plastic protector on top.....there is no way it is sticky enough to run through the machine and hold cardstock in place to cut.  Since it's still a bit sticky, you can place die cuts on it and it will hold them in place as you color or stamp on them.  I also keep the plastic protector on top and use it to mix paints on or stamp my distress inks on to mix them....it's easy to clean and works like the craft mat from Ranger!

2.  I got a color printer for my birthday, but felt like I was wasting a lot of photo paper when I cut the photos out of the pages I printed.  So I started saving the little bits.  Then I saw a video online about using Ranger Alcohol inks on paper that looks JUST like photo paper.  I smacked a few of the old leftovers on a cricut mat and cut out a few shapes and then used my alcohol inks and the felt dabber to color them in....worked just the same!  :)  PS.  I used this technique to make the Alien Christmas card you can find on my blog.  You get a custom colored die cut out of scraps!  AWESOME!

3.  Use the clear packaging that products come in and paint or stamp on them to create your own custom overlay to place over a photo....this looks really cool and keeps a lot of plastic out of the trash!

4.  I use all my old bills to either cut out a sample image from my Cricut (since sizing can be difficult at times and I don't want to waste good cardstock) or use it to cover my craft table when I am using my mists, stamps, or paint on projects.  Then when they get too gunked up I throw them in my shredder and then into my compost bin in the back yard!

5.  If you punch an image out of cardstock, use the punch out on one project and use the negative as a mask on another!  This gives a really cool effect as backgrounds on cards and layouts!

So there is a few tips for now....keep checking back for more, and if you have any I'd love to hear them!  Of course Digital Scrapbooking is probably the MOST eco-friendly, but there's just nothing like creating something  yourself with scissors, paper, ribbon, and photos!

Diablo's Cantina - VEGAS

This is a layout I created for this months PAGEMAP challenge.  It's the 1st time I am entering a PAGEMAP challenge, but what the heck!  This sketch is AWESOME!!!  I actually had like 3 different ideas so I think I might create at least one more layout using this sketch:

OK....onto my layout!  I wanted to use these few picture from when Kevin and I went to Diablo's Cantina in Las Vegas....I LOVE Mexican food so I was VERY excited to go here....and was NOT disappointed!  :)  You can not miss the restaurant...it's right on the strip with a HUGE she-devil on top (so I thought...why not make the pic I took of her that the long bit to the left of the sketch.).

I got the idea for the border and background from this awesome wall in the back of the restaurant.  It was blue-gray with TONS of hearts hanging all over it....so I thought...use gray cardstock, use some blue glimmer mist and stamp tons of different style hearts as the border for the page....I LOVE how it turned out.  I wanted to keep the center mostly reds and oranges, but I did use some blue heart washi tape to add a bit of the blue in the center....and it also kept with the heart theme.

and I thought the heart card was cute....sticking with the theme and...ya know...it's VEGAS so there were a few decks of cards there...haha!  I used a pic of the Menu for the title of the page....overall I am pretty happy w/ how it turned out!!

Thinking of You

Here's a simple sympathy card I made using a stamp from Hero Arts, some distress inks, and lots of clear embossing powder!  :)

Alien Christmas

Why not?  :) For Landon....he loves Aliens!  I used my Cricut and the mini monsters cartridge and a Halloween one for the window.  I used grey cardstock for the background and white for the aliens and colored them in with various colors of Adirondack Inks.  I used white embossing powder for the snowflakes and used distress inks to create the sky.  I love how this card turned out!  :)

Shady Maple layout

This is a layout I put together....Shady Maple is a HUGE breakfast buffet we went to for my Grandma's birthday....

STITCHING!!!!  I got to use my new sewing machine (thanks Kevin!!)  Can you believe I never used one before??  I am having a blast with it!!  :)  It just gives so much character to a page!

I LOVE this pic of Landon (my nephew) and I trying each others food!  :)

be my friend?

I LOVE this layout!!  Just a bit of blue and green pain, a black gel pen to add some stiching lines around the edges, some butterflies I cut from my cricut, and some buttons....so simple!  I used a masking technique for the word friend and embossed a white question mark after it.  I love how Gizzy is creeping up on Kevin!  :)  This page makes me laugh everytime I look at it....they were just getting to know eachother! haha.

NIAGARA FALLS

I wanted to share a few layouts I made about Niagara Falls, first the 12 x 24 layout about Maid of the Mist.  We had an awesome time....and saw TONS of rainbows!

2nd I created this interactive page about Cave of the Winds.  I loved all the pictures I took, but the ones I put in the bit that folds out, I didn't feel like they would be interesting enough to be a page of their own.  Plus I love the way it folds out and shows step by step the tour you take!  :)

Sorry for the bit of glare, but I can't take this page out of the page protector due to the fold out part!  :)
